Trex® Co. Inc., manufacturer of decking and fencing material Trex, is investing in increasing its manufacturing capacity in the next few years. Siding and decking contractor Pechacek’s General Contracting shares a look at how homeowners benefit from this expansion.
According to Trex CEO James Cline, demand for composite material as a replacement for traditional wood components has accelerated at a faster pace with the introduction of products such as Enhance® composite decking materials. To meet the demand, Trex Co. Inc. plans to invest in $200 million in new manufacturing equipment, including a new manufacturing plant that’s expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2021.
Trex unveiled their Enhance Basic decking material earlier this year at the International Builders’ Show, promising an affordable and low-maintenance material for building new decks. Among its other features, Trex composites are mostly made from recycled polyethylene and reclaimed wood fiber, making it ideal for homeowners who want eco-friendly materials for their homes.
Advantages of Trex
Trex distinguishes itself from the competition with their eco-friendly products. Whereas similar composites sold by competitors use virgin polymer, Trex contains up to 95% recycled wood, sawdust and plastic film. As evidenced by products such as their Enhance decking, Trex applies advanced manufacturing methods to produce realistic wood grain, without resorting to prints or repeating patterns. Their refined wood grain, complete with natural-looking streaks found in natural wood, can stand up to close scrutiny.
More than a few homeowners put up with obviously artificial-looking composite decks because of low maintenance requirements. While traditional wood decks are aesthetically pleasing, they require a lot of care and maintenance. With Trex, there is no need to make a compromise between looks and performance. Thanks to its protective outer shell, Trex only requires soap and water to keep clean. The same outer shell protects it from being gouged by furniture and sharp footwear. The 25-Year Limited Residential Warranty rounds up its features as one of the strongest decking warranties in the industry.
